Apple is no longer dominating tablet player
Since so many days we were listening about Apple’s down market share, today IDC reported that Apple is no longer dominating tablet player. Few days back there was news that Apple shipped fewer tablets in its third quarter i.e. 14.6 million as compared to previous shipment which was 17 million. There was a time when Apple was a market player in the tablet category but Android since last year came with so much improvement and now had beaten up apple. Just one year before apple had 60.3% tablet market share and android was having just 38% and now its just opposite 62.6% of android share and is Apple is left with 32.5%.
According to IDC’s research director Tom Mainelli, new tablets from Apple and Amazon are expected to energize the market by the fourth quarter.
“A new iPad launch always piques consumer interest in the tablet category and traditionally that has helped both Apple and its competitors. With no new iPad, the market slowed for many vendors, and that’s likely to continue into the third quarter. However, by the fourth quarter we expect new products from Apple, Amazon, and others to drive impressive growth in the market.”-Tom Mainelli, Research Director, Tablets, IDC. “
Apple is no longer dominating tablet player, WHY?
Android’s two amazing tablet Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7 are the stars. Its not just tablet market Android comes up but in Smartphone market too. No one has thought that Apple will roll down so fast. Android has not only improved a lot in quality but also has comparatively low price than Apple. Android tablets are easily affordable while Apple still costs high. Now we are thinking that Apple was running on its fame. While Android market is developing Apple is standing at the same place or you can say crawling.
To match up Android, Apple should play very creatively in upcoming iPad 5 so let’s see what Apple is going to do to get it’s position back.
